Brandmarks vs Logo.dev

Choose between a full-featured logo platform and Brandmarks’ focused approach to consistent artwork.

Logo.dev is a strong starting point for a production logo integration. It supports more kinds of identifiers than Brandmarks, with brand data and platform features beyond our current beta. If you need that breadth, we recommend starting there.

Brandmarks is worth a look when you have a defined set of companies and a particular way you want their logos to appear together: a restrained stock table, a dark dashboard, or a grid of brand-colored tiles.

A consistent set of artwork

Brandmarks pairs full logos with square marks on standard canvases. Color and white versions share the same layout; the beta API also supplies solid black artwork and contrasting artwork on a primary-color background.

For example, you can use white marks throughout a dark watchlist, then use the full logos on company detail pages. The same image route handles both. See the different treatments.

Differences that may matter to your project

Your requirement Brandmarks Logo.dev
Embed an SVG Public files and beta image endpoint CDN serves JPG, PNG, and WebP
Display a full logo Choose variant=logo on the image endpoint Wide artwork is available through the Brand API
Choose a presentation Color, white, solid black, or a brand-color panel CDN offers light/dark adjustments and grayscale
Size a raster image Select from stored PNG renditions CDN offers size, width, height, and retina controls
Look up additional identifiers Supported domains, tickers, and company IDs Also includes name, ISIN, crypto, exchange, and index routes

Logo.dev’s CDN guide explains its image options and links to the wide-artwork API. Its terminology differs from ours: Logo.dev uses “brandmark” for wide artwork; Brandmarks uses “mark” for the square symbol.

Where we are today

Brandmarks is early. API access is invite-only, keys are issued manually, and webhooks and self-service account tools are not available. We serve an existing catalog; an unknown domain does not trigger a new search of the web. Black and brand-panel API treatments currently require SVG.

You can use known public SVG and PNG files without a key. That is a useful way to try a few companies in a report or prototype, subject to the static host’s limits.

Which fits your work?

Choose Logo.dev if its lookup options and platform features are important to your application. Consider Brandmarks if your companies are covered and direct SVG delivery or the prepared full-logo/mark treatments suit your design.

Start with the catalog and presentation examples. If the artwork fits, the quick start shows how to use it. Existing Logo.dev integrations will need changes to routes, parameters, and keys; our image reference covers those details.
