Brandmarks vs 1000 Logos

Use 1000 Logos for logo history and Brandmarks for consistent company artwork in your project.

1000 Logos is a useful place to explore the meaning and history of brand identities. If you want to understand how a logo evolved, or find context for a design, its editorial articles are the better starting point.

Brandmarks helps with a different part of the work: putting company logos together in a website, dashboard, spreadsheet, or presentation. You may find both useful on the same project.

From research to a working layout

A report might need the same companies shown in a table, on a dark title slide, and in a grid of brand-colored tiles. Brandmarks provides full-logo and square-mark variants on consistent canvases, with matched color and white artwork.

Its beta API also supplies solid black artwork and a primary-color panel with contrasting ink. See the same companies in these treatments.

For a fixed company list, you can copy public SVG or PNG links directly from the catalog. For an application that starts with a supported ticker or domain, the beta API can resolve the company and return an image.

Choose by the job you need to do

Your task Where to start
Explore a logo’s history or meaning 1000 Logos articles
Research an earlier brand identity Historical references on 1000 Logos
Add supported company logos to a table or dashboard Brandmarks catalog and image URLs
Prepare matching light and dark layouts Brandmarks artwork variants
Put logos into a spreadsheet Brandmarks public PNGs and integration guides

Brandmarks does not provide an editorial history of each logo or a versioned archive of past identities. For that context, keep the original research sources alongside your design work.

Try Brandmarks for your company list

Start by checking the catalog. Inspect the artwork you plan to use, choose a full logo or square mark, and use PNG for Sheets or Excel. SVG is available for compatible web and presentation tools.

Brandmarks is still growing, and API access is invite-only. If a company is missing, you can request help; looking it up does not automatically add it to the collection.
