Context.dev, which Brand.dev now redirects to, brings brand data together with tools for web scraping, research, and monitoring. If your product needs information from a company’s website as well as its visual identity, that broader scope can be valuable.
Brandmarks is at an earlier stage and serves a narrower purpose: displaying supported company logos in a consistent way. It may suit a project where you already know the companies and want artwork for a table, report, or presentation.
When Context.dev makes sense
Choose Context.dev when the work extends to extracting a website’s design system, gathering web content, or monitoring changes. It also offers a dedicated Logo API, so an image-only integration does not require using its other tools.
If those services already support your application, keeping them together may be the most convenient choice.
A smaller task Brandmarks can handle
Suppose you have a list of companies for a portfolio dashboard. You want square marks in the table, full logos on detail pages, and white artwork on dark backgrounds. Brandmarks prepares those variants on standard canvases and serves the full catalog through authenticated API requests.
The public preview set lets you inspect sample files without an account. The beta API adds authenticated full-catalog images, supported ticker/domain lookup, and solid black artwork or a primary-color panel with contrasting ink. See the presentation options.
That is the reason to try Brandmarks: its prepared collection may fit the display you are building.
What Brandmarks does not cover yet
Brandmarks does not extract website style guides, scrape web content, or monitor pages. Its company API returns a limited set of metadata and measured colors, rather than a complete website identity. It has no webhook service or self-service API dashboard.
Coverage is limited to the existing catalog, and beta access is enabled by invitation. Black and brand-panel treatments require SVG; PNG is available for color and white artwork.
Start with a few companies
Browse the catalog and try the public samples in your layout. Request API beta access to validate full-catalog delivery. If you are moving from another provider, keep any non-logo data dependencies in place and migrate only the image workflow you have checked.
